EthnoChina is an independent boutique travel company based in Chengdu, Sichuan. We design thoughtful journeys for travellers who want to experience China through culture, landscapes, research, creativity, food, history, and local knowledge.

Our Story

Journeys built around curiosity, not checklists

EthnoChina was founded in 2025 with a simple belief: the most rewarding journeys are built around curiosity, not checklists.

China is vast, layered, and constantly changing. It is a country of ancient capitals, remote villages, high plateaus, tropical islands, megacities, tea mountains, desert roads, craft traditions, and everyday stories that rarely fit into standard travel packages.

We created EthnoChina for travellers who want something more personal.

Instead of offering mass-market tours, we work closely with each client to understand what they are truly looking for. Some people come to China for culture and food. Some come for photography, research, writing, art, architecture, history, or adventure. Others simply want a journey that feels more thoughtful than a conventional itinerary.

EthnoChina is based in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province and one of China's most distinctive cultural cities.

Known for its teahouses, relaxed rhythm, spicy food, pandas, old streets, creative energy, and gateway position to western China, Chengdu reflects many of the qualities that shape EthnoChina itself: warmth, curiosity, depth, and a slower way of paying attention.

From Chengdu, we coordinate journeys across China while staying closely connected to the regions, landscapes, and communities that inspire our work.
